Renovation work at Archdale is nearly complete and will provide a fresh look for the homes of 30 formerly homeless youth.

When it opened in 1996, Archdale was one of the first programs of its kind to offer supportive housing for homeless youth, ages 16-20. The building was rehabilitated this year to help the physical space run more efficiently as it assists youth in gaining greater stability. At Archdale, Aeon partners with YouthLink to provide supportive services for youth.

Renovations, such as an expanded community room, will be more conducive to offering youth a supportive living environment. The main lobby was completely renovated, with the 24/7 reception desk having better visibility to the main entrance.

A new computer room with three work stations was added for youth to use as they job search and learn computer skills. A fitness room was also added to help residents maintain their physical health.

In addition, each of the 30 units had a face lift with new paint and the replacement of flooring and some appliances. Exterior renovations included a new roof and fixing storm water issues.

The renovation is scheduled to be complete in July. Watch www.aeonhomes.org for details about an open house in August to see the renovated Archdale!
