Minneapolis, MN - Central Community Housing Trust (CCHT), a private, non-profit community-based provider of affordable housing, launched a new web site designed to better serve the community seeking affordable housing information and resources. The new, user-friendly website located at www.ccht.org links people to affordable housing resources, lists affordable housing vacancies at CCHT properties, and enables users to register on-line for CCHT-sponsored events such as neighborhood forums and its "Building Dreams" affordable housing presentations. The website also provides information on CCHT properties, resident services, background on CCHT, news and events, and how to contribute.

Affordable housing and its impact on homelessness is a growing problem in the Twin Cities despite a major housing boom. Estimates figure that around 21,000 Minnesotans are homeless. Current projections for the metro area show a 16,000-unit shortage of affordable housing over the next five years alone. Since 1986, CCHT has worked closely with the community and government leaders to develop more than 1,160 units of affordable housing.

"Our new web site furthers our commitment to raise awareness and support for affordable housing," said Alan Arthur, President and CEO of CCHT. "We proactively reach out to communities and collaborate with partners to provide housing and services tailored to the needs of our residents and neighbors."

Since it began in 1986, CCHT has built or renovated more than 1,160 units of affordable housing for persons and families of very-low, low and moderate incomes. Last year, CCHT served 2,044 residents, most of whom work in downtown Minneapolis and the surrounding communities. CCHT's mission is to create and sustain quality affordable housing that strengthens lives and communities.
