First suburban groundbreaking for CCHT 10/13/2006 10:57 AMChaska-area residents and employees will have more affordable living options with the addition of 115 units of rental housing. It’s the first suburban development for Central Community Housing Trust.
The groundbreaking for Clover Field Marketplace was held October 12 in Chaska. Speaking at the event, Chaska Mayor Van Eyll said the development adds to “life-cycle” housing options in Chaska. “I hope people can be born here, can grow up here, live here as adults, and retire here.”

CCHT President Alan Arthur also spoke at the event, calling the development “a great place for kids” and saying that the groundbreaking was “a tremendous celebration of the many people it took to make this development a reality.”
The $22 million development will complete construction of the traditionally designed neighborhood of Clover Field, which features a neighborhood center, diverse housing options, and walkable streets.
CCHT Senior Developer Jeanne Kelsey says Chaska is one  | | Neighbors of the Clover Field site and CCHT supporters gathered for the Groundbreaking | of many suburban communities at risk of losing residents because of increasingly unaffordable housing prices. “This development helps Chaska residents stay in the community by increasing the supply of high-quality, affordable places to live,” she says.
Kelsey says local businesses are especially eager to see the affordable housing supply increase. “Right now, there are manufacturing companies in Chaska that can’t find employees because they can’t afford to live in the area,” she says.
Construction of Clover Field Marketplace is expected to be completed in late 2007.
