 | Spring Ahead Into Volunteering!
A tell-tale sign of spring’s arrival for our volunteer
program is National Volunteer Week from April 27th to May 3,
2008. We’d like to take this opportunity
to say THANK YOU to
more than a thousand volunteers who have helped to support our mission to
create and sustain quality affordable homes that strengthen lives and
communities! In 2007 more than 1,045 volunteered 6,320 hours of service. Thanks to each of you who taught classes, hosted movie or
game nights, held donation drives, served as a member of a board or committee,
improved one of our properties through painting cleaning or landscaping, or
lent your skills and time to us in some other way.
We are preparing for a busy summer season of
volunteer opportunities- here are a few positions we are actively recruiting
for at this time:
Garden Guru: From spring to fall there are
opportunities to test your green thumb at many of our properties. Help weed and
landscape our properties to make the outside as beautiful and welcoming as the
inside of our buildings! Opportunities are available during the day,
weekends, and weeknights. Great for
groups or individuals!
Spring Cleaning: Gather a group of friends and family members
together to help us spruce up our apartment buildings for the warm summer
months. We are looking for a group that is willing to work with a power washer
to clean the fronts of our buildings in the Phillips Neighborhood. We’ll rent
the power washer - you do the washing of the buildings and windows.
