 | The Lamoreaux In the early 1990s at the request of the City of Minneapolis and the Hennepin Avenue Advisory Board (a city-sponsored citizen participation board), Aeon transformed the Lamoreaux from a vacant, boarded building to an attractive home for 34 formerly homeless persons. Staff has a 24-hour presence, and provide referrals and workshops for residents.
The Lamoreaux was recognized with the "Adaptive Re-Use" Award from the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and the "Neighborhood Environment Award" from the City of Minneapolis Committee on Urban Environment (CUE) in 1993.
In 2003, Aeon completed a three-story vertical addition to the Lamoreaux, adding 39 efficiency apartments above the existing single-room occupancy units. The efficiencies are affordable to people earning 50% of the area median income. The three-story addition was recognized with the "Project of the Year" award from the Minnesota Construction Association in 2004.
