| The Wellstone broke ground in October 2007 and will provide 49 units of quality affordable housing in the Ventura Village neighborhood of Minneapolis. The Wellstone is Phase III of the Franklin Portland Gateway development, which will transform a formerly blighted and vacant urban intersection into a vibrant place to live and work.
The Franklin-Portland Gateway development is a partnership of Hope Community and Aeon.
The Wellstone development has been awarded a Minnesota Green Communities grant, providing funding for environmentally-friendly building strategies. Green building goals for the Wellstone include energy-efficient washing machines, a solar hot water system, native landscaping, motion-sensitive secondary public lighting and more.
The building’s 49 units will range in size from studios to three-bedroom family units. Underground parking will help preserve the site for significant usable green space and landscaping. The site will also include neighborhood-scale commercial and community space. |
